Using the newest Laser and Pulsed Light technology, Smooth Exposure can quickly and comfortably offer the following services. Conventional hair removal, shaving, waxing or depilatories, has been time-consuming and has provided short term results. When early laser technology started to be used for hair removal it was expensive and painful but provided long-term results. But now with newer technology, affordable, comfortable, permanent hair removal is possible. Treatment are safe, simple and quick, with virtually no side effects or discomfort.
The hair that gets removed during a treatment is that hair which is in
its active growing phase (human hair is not always growing).
Usually, that is about 10% -20% of the hair in the treatment area.
Hair follicles in their active growing stage will die and fall out in 2 to
10 days. Depending on which body part we are treating,
we will wait 4 to 8 weeks for your next treatment. This period
corresponds with the human hair growth cycle and allows a meaningful
amount of the remaining hair to move into an active growing phase so
that your next treatment removes a reasonable amount of hair.
As a result, most clients will need 5 to 7 treatments to get the
kind of clearance they want. In addition, as people age, their bodies create less collagen which is a key component of the skin’s foundation. As collagen decreases with age, skin begins to sag or wrinkle and this process is exacerbated with more exposure to the sun. As the body ages it also becomes less efficient at managing the distribution and control of melanin – the essence of your skin’s color or pigmentation. When the active melanin in your skin is not evenly distributed, it can cause age spots, freckles and other pigmentation abnormalities that may not be attractive. Most age spots and pigmentation changes resulting from sun exposure can be improved dramatically or completely eliminated with pulsed light. The treatment consists of 2 or 3 passes of the pulsed light applicator over the desired treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat causes damage to the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process. The lesion will darken before it flakes off or the body absorbs it. (Click here for “How It Works”)
Most clients are treated about every 3 weeks. Although results are usually apparent after the first treatment, 4 or 5 treatments are employed to get maximum results.
VIBRADERM - the new Microdermabrasion A perfect complement to the skin rejuvenation therapy with intense pulsed light is a Vibraderm treatment. With the Vibraderm system a high-speed, vibrating metallic paddle is moved back and forth across the skin to remove the upper layers and encourage the development of collagen. The treatment is designed to create smoother, brighter skin while stimulating lower layers of the skin for a healthier appearance. Each client receives their own set of paddles which eliminates any cross-contamination between clients. Vibrating speed and the number of passes over a specific area can be adjusted to achieve the optimum degree of exfoliation. This is dramatically superior to conventional microdermabrasion because there is no crystal residue left on the skin. Older microderm machines using a tube-shaped wand can only address the face and require a significant amount of time even for that limited area. With Vibraderm virtually any body part can be treated and because treatment time has been dramatically reduced, even large body parts can be treated in 30 minutes. Smooth Exposure offers the Vibraderm treatment in combination with other facial procedures to amplify results - Click Here to see other facial procedures. Although the face and neck is the most popular treatment scenario for most people, the exfoliation of the upper chest or the back of arms for many people provides a meaningful improvement in skin texture and smoothness which is important when wearing certain clothes. Now knees, elbows and other “rough” areas can be addressed quickly and easily to create a smoother, younger looking appearance. Treating Rosacea, Spider-veins, and other Vascular Lesions As many as 70 million Americans have an undesirable amount of facial redness, flushing, and sun damage. Roughly 13 to14 million of those people struggle with Rosacea, a very common, complicated skin problem that causes redness and flushing on the nose cheeks, forehead, chin, and neck. Rosecea causes dilated capillaries and acne-like breakouts, particularly among fair skinned men and women over 30. Doctors are not sure what causes Rosacea but they are fairly confident that certain environmental factors can make it more prominent. These include sun exposure, stress, diet and heat. Until now, the only treatment available has been lifestyle changes, with oral or topical medications. But there has not been a truly effective treatment to significantly reduce or eliminate the redness and flushing. So, the benefits from Pulsed Light treatments are particularly rewarding for individuals with Rosacea and similar vascular problems.
Clinical data has demonstrated that individuals receive a remarkable improvement in decreased facial flushing, redness and dilated capillaries after a few Pulsed Light treatments. (Click here for “How it Works”) Most clients are treated about every 2 to 3 weeks. The number of treatments required varies from one client to the next, but it is common to have 3 or 4 treatments to achieve a relatively complete degree of clearance. Most clients will see significant changes after the first treatment, but may want to have 1 or 2 more treatments to complete the process. The vast majority of vascular problems addressable with Pulsed Light are located in the face and neck area. In most cases, depending on the size of the treatment area, treatments can be accomplished in 20 – 30 minutes. (Click here for “Pricing”)
Acne is a disorder of the skin's sebaceous glands that results in plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions. One of the most common skin diseases, over 80%of the population aged 14-30 will suffer from it regardless of gender, geography or skin type, and 25% of these will have permanent scars. Though commonly considered as a teenager problem and usually beginning in adolescence, 20% of all adults suffer from varying degrees of active acne. For some, it is simply annoying. For many others however, acne is a significant problem that has a high impact on their lifestyle and quality of life. Each year, approximately $5 billion is spent on acne treatment, most of it on medication. However many of these acne medications, ranging from over-the-counter (OTC) to prescription, are expensive and may cause significant side effects. They require several months of continuous treatment, and many clients do not respond to them or witness only limited effect. Now, fighting acne is no longer a loosing battle. Smooth Exposure’s pulsed light acne treatment systems effectively clear inflammatory acne lesions in just 1/3 the time it takes for standard topical and oral treatments to do the same.
Pulsed Light Acne Clearance is nothing but benefits:
Acne therapy often includes deep-pore cleansing therapy like our Clinical Facials, Chemical Peels or Microdermabrasion - depending on skin type. (Click here for information about "Other Facial Procedures") Deep wrinkles in the forehead area or around the eyes can easily be corrected with Botox. A quick injection will relax the muscles in this area of the face and allow the skin to smooth out in just a few days after treatment. For laugh lines around the mouth or even for just fuller-looking lips, dermal fillers such as Juvaderm or Restylane provide an easy transition to smooth, youthful skin. Dr. Eric Khairalla, an award-winning plastic surgeon, performs the Botox and Dermal Filler services at Smooth Exposure. Dr. Khairalla takes his time and thoroughly explains each procedure to the client. Botox and Filler products are pure and genuine and a free "touch-up" appointment is available if necessary.
